ABOUT US

Next Millennium Productions is no stranger to the concept of going green. One of our founding members was raised by some of the original champions of the green movement on a hippie commune in the mountains of Colorado, so the cause is near and dear to our hearts. Beyond our vigilant use of the City's recycling program, we have implemented a few things to help do our part.

Hybrid Production Vehicles

We have been watching the development of Hybrid vehicles for years and are happy to say that there are now several options large enough to be used as ENG production vehicles. We have chosen the Hybrid SUV with the best mileage (and the only one that comes without leather seats) the Toyota Highlander. We now get double the mileage compared to our previous production vehicles.

Solar and Wind Powered Edit Suites

We are currently in the process of installing a photovoltaic test system to power one of our edit suites. If it proves successful we plan to add a solar array large enough to power most, if not all of the facility. We are also seeking clearance from the city to install a wind turbine atop our elevator machine room. Though these projects have been quite challenging, they have actually inspired the concept for one of our new shows currently in development.

Maximizing Natural Light

We have designed our facility in such a way as to maximize the spread of sunlight throughout the space. On a sunny day we don't need to have a single light turned on and we are one of the only production facilities with windows in nearly every room, including our edit suites.

Re-used Takeout Containers

Seafarer Charles Moore who first discovered the North Pacific Garbage Gyre in a wasteland of floating plastic garbage twice the size of Texas - has said that the single serving takeout container is one of the worst things to ever happen to the environment. With six edit suites running and several studio shoots every week we have become aware of the huge amount of waste created by the take out containers from our lunch deliveries and catering. We have recently started a program with some of our favorite local restaurants whereby we bring our re-usable plastic takeout containers to the restaurant when we place our delivery order. The restaurant prepares the order and delivers it using the containers we brought them. We simply wash the containers and bring them back the next time we order from that restaurant. We don't have any hard scientific data to share with you on this program, but we can definitely see a drop in the amount of trash we put out each day.
